This August we updated and restored the interior in a 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac from old, cracked, and damaged leather to new leather upholstery and a new steering wheel wrap in factory match colors.
For this design, we matched the factory colors on both the seats and the steering wheel wrap. In this case, we found that Katzkin’s Vanilla and Sandstone leather colors were an almost perfect match to the OEM colors. These colors were applied as a 2-tone combo and we also added perforation to the inserts at our customer’s request.
Our team installed Katzkin leather upholstery into this beautiful little Ford. We use a variety of heat and steam techniques to help us perfectly shape the leather to the seats, making it fit as close to (or better than!) factory leather as possible.
When completing the steering wheel wrap we take the old wrap off the wheel, use it to create our own pattern peices that will perfectly match the original, and use a combination of machine and hand stitching to create the final product. This process takes almost an entire day.
