2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Restoration
Published By Emma V. | August 2022
This August, we updated and restored the interior of a 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac from old, cracked, and damaged leather to new leather upholstery and a new steering wheel wrap in factory-matched colours.
For this design, we matched the factory colours on the seats and the steering wheel wrap. In this case, Katzkin’s Vanilla and Sandstone leather colours were an almost perfect match to the OEM colours. These colours were applied as a 2-tone combo, and we also added perforation to the inserts at our customer’s request.
Our team installed Katzkin leather upholstery into this beautiful little Ford. We use a variety of heat and steam techniques to help us perfectly shape the leather to the seats, making it fit as close to (or better than!) factory leather as possible. When completing the steering wheel wrap, we take the old wrap off the wheel, use it to create our own pattern pieces that will perfectly match the original, and use a combination of machine and hand stitching to create the final product. This process takes almost an entire day.
